Not parasocial love nor parasocial hate but a secret third thing where I respect the celebrity for their talents and achievements while acknowledging that I do not have a personal relationship with them and that they are a human with flaws

Thank you for acknowledging that parasocial hate is just as weird as parasocial love. You don’t know them. Stop speculating about them actually being horrible.

I think something very scary that is happening for the newer generation is that the invisible audience no longer exists. They’re not invisible, they’re right there, in their pocket all the time, and that is so physiologically damaging.

“he he ho ho elder millennial thinks technology is evil and Edison was a witch”

fucking no but don’t you remember in middle school when you were like “I’m horrible and everyone hates me” but you literally never had any evidence to back that up so you eventually grew out of it? Now imagine you had a little light box that people from all over the world could tell you that actually yeah they did hate you , and they could do it anonymously. Why do you think teens today are so fucking obsessed with cringe? Why do you think you haven’t seen a gen z horse girl? Like the audience isn’t invisible anymore and the kids have to perform form the second their born.

I love my mutuals, but I don’t really care for the ‘specialness’ associated with them. want to send me an ask off anon? do it. want to tag me in a post? do it. follower, mutual, or just random person who stumbled across my blog: I crave interaction and literally do not mind.

THIS. The inherent cliques formed is so weird, like pls message me, send me an ask, pls don’t think that just because we normally don’t talk, I won’t reply

the thing about wanting more art of your favourite characters is that the internet is absolutely overflowing with artists advertising their open commissions on every single platform you will ever visit. people regularly advertise commissions in final fantasy 14 party finder. if you’re ever thinking “damn I wish there were more pictures of-” all you have to do is do a tumblr or twitter or whatever search for “commission” or “commissions” or even something like “commissions open” or “commission info” and you’ll be presented with swathes of artists jumping at the bit to be paid to draw you that picture and offering this service in every conceivable price range.

Encouragment for writers that I know seems discouraging at first but I promise it’s motivational-

• Those emotional scenes you’ve planned will never be as good on page as they are in your head. To YOU. Your audience, however, is eating it up. Just because you can’t articulate the emotion of a scene to your satisfaction doesn’t mean it’s not impacting the reader.

• Sometimes a sentence, a paragraph, or even a whole scene will not be salvagable. Either it wasn’t necessary to the story to begin with, or you can put it to the side and re-write it later, but for now it’s gotta go. It doesn’t make you a bad writer to have to trim, it makes you a good writer to know to trim.

• There are several stories just like yours. And that’s okay, there’s no story in existence of completely original concepts. What makes your story “original” is that it’s yours. No one else can write your story the way you can.

• You have writing weaknesses. Everyone does. But don’t accept your writing weaknesses as unchanging facts about yourself. Don’t be content with being crap at description, dialogue, world building, etc. Writers that are comfortable being crap at things won’t improve, and that’s not you. It’s going to burn, but work that muscle. I promise you’ll like the outcome.

I apparently commented this on someone’s fanfiction while almost unconscious and had no memory of this event until today, a week and a half later, when the author responded to that comment and I got the experience of reading my own writing for the first time. I, too, will be thinking about this for the rest of my life.
